Pixzee Peach is the easiest way to get nice peaches on a dwarf tree.

There are two good reasons to keep fruit trees small: first, to allow easy netting to keep the birds at bay and second, to fit a limited space.

But we do have a number of varieties of stone fruit, apples and citrus where trees can be planted on dwarfing rootstocks. These rootstocks generally grow trees to about half their usual height which still may be too big. Extra manual pruning is then needed. There are a select few fruit varieties that are natural dwarfs and these need almost no pruning.

First among these is the dwarf peach Pixzee. We have sold thousands of these over the 30 years that they have been available and it is still the easiest way to pick good quality peaches from your own tree. The Pixzee peach is dwarfed because the internode length is very short, and as this is a fixed genetic characteristic, you don't need to do much. Just grow a nice tree and you will get fruit. It may be good to thin crowded branches from time to time in winter.
