Best pickling olive is Kolossus. This outstanding variety bears fruit of similar shape and colour to the well-known Kalamata olive, but the fruit is enormous.
Dwarf Olives Varieties
Bambalina, a dwarf ornamental hedging olive. It is nil to low fruiting. It makes a very good hedge and can be kept at around 1.5m. It will grow to around 3m if left unpruned.
Arbequina is a low vigor variety that has a reduced growth rate because it produces so much fruit when it is young. It, however, is not a dwarf and eventually reach around 6m if left unpruned. In commercial olive production it is grown in hedge rows and kept at around 3 metres with annual pruning.
