Blueberry prefer acid soils which are uncommon in South Australia. But, you can grow them very well as pot plants in a good potting mix under light shade.

Pruning your Blueberry

Blueberries fruit on wood that grew in the previous season. Therefore, we should encourage vigorous shoots in the current season to get more fruit next season.

The best way to get new growth is to prune out old stems at their base just after the fruit has finished. This could be early to mid-summer depending on the variety.

So, every year after the fruit has finished, prune out about one third of old stems.

If you have not pruned before now then do as instructed above now.
