Citrus Fruit

Citrus in Patio Pots - Easier than you think
Oranges, lemons and mandarins make beautiful pot plants. Lush, deep green foliage and neatly trimmed canopy are pretty enough. Add to that the sweetly scented blossom and coloured fruit for a stunning effect. The secret to success is simple. Choose high quality Perry’s trees, use a top brand premium potting mix and apply slow release fertiliser every season. It’s a cinch! Keep the trees neatly pruned to suit the size of the pot.

We Can Send Your Trees
Should you be unable to visit our nursery let us deliver your trees to you. A carton of trees costs $20 to send anywhere in the metro area of Adelaide. Ask us about delivery if you are out of town.

Which Lime to Grow?
If you use lime leaves to flavour Asian cooking then you need the Kaffir lime. This beautiful plant can easily be grown in a 40cm pot. Prune to a small bush and harvest a leaf any night of the year. Fruiting limes can be used in cooking where acid juice is necessary. Tahitian lime has a good-sized seedless fruit, which is juicy and full of flavour. Fruit can be harvested from March to October. Tahitian lime will grow in the garden or in a pot. The West Indian lime is a small round fruit with intense flavour. It makes a very attractive tub specimen and is easy to grow. It is the most tender of the limes and is better suited to pots than the garden. Come and see our wonderful display plant.

Citrus Fill the Gap
One of the great benefits of citrus is that fruit production covers most of the year. A couple of mandarins, a lemon and an orange will provide fruit that can be picked every day. The health benefits of this regular consumption of fruit cannot be overstated. We believe that regular eating of fruit is the missing link in many a modern diet. Citrus are adaptable and hardy. Establishment problems can be avoided with the knowledge that comes when you buy your trees from us.

Citrus Rootstocks Do Matter
A typical fruit tree is a combination of 2 parts. The top is the fruit bearing part that is grafted onto the root growing part or rootstock. In good quality trees both top (variety) and rootstock are selected to cope with the conditions in which the fruit will be grown. Rootstocks can be more or less cold hardy, more or less tolerant of limestone and grow trees of different sizes. We sell Australia’s best citrus. We know the varieties and the rootstocks and where they should be used. And, our range of rootstock species will expand as we seek new combinations to overcome challenging soils.

Don’t Waste Time and Money
Citrus are robust trees once established. However, many trees fail to establish or else establish too slowly for human patience. Our trees, managed properly, will be bearing fruit years ahead of the rest. Isn’t it worth spending a bit more to get a better tree?
